The formation of BOWASEWU was a clarion call from workers who were starved of representation and endured worst employment conditions especially during the restructuring exercise termed ITEMOGO. Workers wanted a stronger union which is membership centered. With a membership of over 1600 our challenge is to retain and to attract new members.

We are building a union that will offer world class representation and services to its members, innovate tactics to organize and strengthen inclusive and effective social dialogue.
Our core mission is to create:
- A union where members feel valued.
- A union where activists feel empowered.
- A union where staff feel heard and involved.
- A financially sustainable union
Vision
The Strategic Plan defines what we stand for (Values) and how we propose to set about achieving our objectives (Culture). It reflects the nature of our membership organization, and sets out the five core strategic objectives to which we are committed:
- To unite, organize and educate workers members.
- To represent and speak on behalf of workers members.
- To bargain, negotiate and regulate the collective employment relations of workers.
- To promote, safeguard and attain trade union rights and privileges on behalf of members.
- To build a financially sustainable union
